Congregation Knesseth Israel is composed of families from Somerset, Middlesex, and Hunterdon counties. We’re not the biggest or fanciest synagogue in the area, but we like it that way! Our congregation is a close-knit group of active members, and everyone has the opportunity to participate in committees and contribute to the well-being of the congregation.

We describe our congregation as Egalitarian Liberal Conservative. Our services have a warm and friendly spirit, and congregants and Religious school students often help lead them. Shabbat services are held on Friday evenings at 8:00. Once a month we hold Family Shabbat services, which start at a more family-friendly time of 7:30 pm.

To find out more about membership or to arrange a visit to our temple, please call 732-469-0934 or e-mail membership@ckibbnj.org

Members can take part in many social activities:

Men’s Club members build our Sukkah, organize trips to comedy clubs & Somerset Patriots’ ballgames, hold bowling and card nights, and run our annual summer picnic.

Sisterhood meetings have featured invited speakers, cooking classes, recipe exchanges, Israeli dancing, and the annual Sisterhood dinner.

Youth Group members hold pizza parties, picnics, and amusement park trips.

Our Adult Education programs have included a book discussion group, Conversational Yiddish classes, Art Museum tours, and a trip to ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ on Broadway.

We also hold a Hanukkah service & dinner, an annual Shabbat Across America service & dinner, and participate in interfaith services.
