On April 26, 1987, the chapel at the front of the synagogue was dedicated as the “Chapel of the Survivors”, in loving memory of the martyrs of the Shoah.
Various items in the room were dedicated and consecrated, including the stained glass windows.
Rabbi Aaron Decter selected the themes for the windows, which were designed and executed by Wilmark Studios of Pearl River, New York (Mark Liebowitz, President). The windows were installed in December of 1983.
The three windows on the southern wall represent the quote from the “Pirke Avot”: The world rests on three things –
Torah (learning, study, culture)

Avodah (prayerr, liturgy, faith)

and Gemilut Chasidim (tzedakah, charity)

The windows on the eastern wall represent the four most significant events in Jewish history:

From right to left:
Yellow: the Exodus from Egypt and the Giving of the Torah at Sinai.
Blue: the destruction of the Temple

Red: the Shoah (Holocaust)
Green: the Rebirth of Israel and the establishment of the State of Israel
